  1. LOOKING OUT FOR NO. 1
  2. A book by Jets’ coach Rex Ryan landed in the No. 11 spot on the New York Times’ nonfiction best-seller list this week. Knowing Ryan’s competitive nature, expect him to start trashing the No. 1 author on the list, Tina Fey, any day now.

  3. RIDE ‘EM COWBOY, BRIEFLY
  4. Football wide receiver Chad Ochocinco lasted 1.5 seconds in a bullriding competition (video via YouTube) on Saturday night.

Let’s see, rodeo, soccer … it’s starting to look as if Chad’s athletic options are quite limited if there’s no NFL season.

  5. TAKING ON PROBLEMS
  6. Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov is leading the Just Cause party in Russia and could end up as that country’s President. He has asked NBA Commissioner David Stern for tips on how to rule with an iron fist.

  7. RIGHT DOWN THE DRAIN
  8. Bobby Bonilla’s deferred payments from the Mets have kicked in, as he’ll be getting $1.2 million a year for the next 25 years. Bonilla thus joins Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo in the Mets’ “money for nothing club” for 2011.

  9. GETTING AN EDUCATION
  10. Nationals prospect Bryce Harper says the verbal taunts he’s received in the minors this season are “just getting me ready for Philly.” Considering Harper is only 18, he seems to have learned about National League cities in nothing flat.
